Soul Mavericks were crowned the nation’s best crew last night at the 2009 Regional Conflict Finals. In a packed Islington Academy, the battling was hard and fast with all the b-boys pulling out their best stuff to get to the UK Champs World Finals.

The event was covered by Channel 4 as part of the TV series airing in September and also by Sony Ericsson’s own Pocket TV.

London based, Soul Mavericks were voted as the champions at the national final of one of the biggest breaking series in the world, the 2009 Sony Ericsson B-Boy Championships. They beat off tough competition to win their place to represent Great Britain in the World Finals taking place at Brixton Academy in October.

After a three-month search across the country, the eight final crews went head-to-head in the ultimate b-boy dance battle. The nations most talented breakers representing Newcastle, Liverpool, Edinburgh and London took to the stage and went up against their rivals in a sick battle at the Islington Academy in front of an 800 strong crowd!

As UK Champions, Soul Mavericks will now go onto challenge the greatest crew from around the world in a bid to lift the World crown at the World Finals at the Brixton academy, October 11th. The title was won last year in spectacular style by Russia’s Top 9 Crew who beat Korea’s T.I.P .
In the days other competitions, B-Boy Gabz(Soul Mavericks) took the Solo title over B-Boy Ippy in a hard fought 5 rounder. The Popping honours went to Dixon for the second year running. He will be joined at the World Finals by runner up Polski Hitman.
