Korean level blistering on a hot Seoul night! With a 18 strong crew line-up including Rivers crew, Drifterz, Last For One, Maximum, TG Breakers, VIP and Jinjo Crew you knew the fireworks were gonna start early in this world qualifier. With just one place up for grabs their was a real tension to the battles right from the qualifying first round. In the quarter finals a crazy battle draw saw Rivers take on Drifterz. Drifterz, who were missing superstar b-boy Hong 10, struggled to keep pace with a motivated Rivers crew and succumbed in the end to the superior fire power rivers delivered in the form of nice solos and ill combinations! The reason for Hong 10’s absence is that he is now battling with Jinjo crew and in another of the quarters, Jinjo took on Last For One. This was as hyped as you’d expect and the moves on display were crazy! The battle seemed to be over in a minute but it was Jinjo who got the decision. Semi finals up next and it was Rivers crew against Maximum who had previously triumphed over Last Mass to reach the last four and TG Breakers versus Jinjo. TG were difinately up for the fight and came out all guns blazing in the first couple of rounds but Jinjo seem to just shift into another gear forcing mistakes from their rivals and easing through to the finals. Rivers were also too strong for Maximum and the final everyone had thought might happen was a reality. The match up was to be an ill tempered affair. Both crews were battling all out. The move level was pretty insane and both crews were allowed 2 routines in this battle. Rivers started off with a dope routine nicely choreographed . Jinjo though, didn’t answer this straight away but carried on soloing. When they did throw in a routine, it was a crazy display using four jackets, somehow threaded to make a star, in which Wing hit a 2000 and Hong 10 dived through ending up in a sick freeze! In the heat of the battle, accusations of going over the two routine limit were shouted across the floor and when both Physics from Rivers and Wing both hit the floor the resulting crash stopped the action prematurely. A tie breaker followed but when the 2 to 1 decision went in favour of Jinjo, Rivers crew felt their opponents had been unsportsmanlike and took the battle to the concrete after the event! In the days other action, from 17 Locking pairs the title was taken by new skool gangsters ‘Olleh’ while from an incredible field of 140 Poppers it was ‘Hozin’ who clinched victory!
