Channel 4 has re-commissioned the second series on the trials and tribulations of the world's greatest breakers, poppers & lockers in the lead-up to the 2009 Sony Ericsson UK B-Boy Championships World Finals.
The six-part '2009 Sony Ericsson World B-Boy Series', will document the search to find the most talented break-dancers to compete at the World Finals. Plus, if you miss any action you can catch up on all the episodes with fresh updates on how each battle went down at www.se-bboys.com
Following the hype and interest created by the first series, this series looks to dig deeper and uncover more about the cult of b-boy. It will primarily be showing even more battle footage to demonstrate to the audience the art of non-contact combat that has evolved over 30 years to become a global phenomenon; stretching the limits of physical capability and pushing dance itself to astonishing new heights.
The first show aims to open up the viewers eyes to the b-boy phenomenon worldwide and let them know that b-boy is still very much alive and kicking. Going back to the home of breakin' - the series kicks off in New York, the format is fast paced but with an analytical edge, to enhance the audience's understanding of the art form. Phil Young presents the show with expert help from competition founder and organiser Hooch who is on hand to give us commentary during the contest. Phil catches up with Hooch at regular intervals during the competition to get our pundit's take on proceedings. Also featured is the original b-boy, Crazy Legs (70's Rock Steady Crew) at the annual Rock Steady anniversary bash in Central park, NY.
New locations have been incorporated into the second series with stops in China and Helsinki, as well as visits to Korea and Europe's biggest breakin' festival, Holland's IBE. The final show will feature highlights from the World Final - which takes place here in London in October and is also hosted by the incomparable Crazy Legs!
The first show will air on Sunday 11th October @ 8.00am and at 08:30 am on Channel 4 + 1 and although is not peak time will be a staple if autumn viewing for fans of street/break dance and hip hop culture alike.
